Marong Tank commissioning

10 December 2021

It is with great pleasure we advise you that the new three-megalitre concrete tank and booster pump station at Sterry Road, Marong is now complete.

The town has experienced water pressure issues for some time, particularly during periods of hot weather when there is increased demand on the network.

Not only will the new tank improve pressure for the community, but it will increase water security in the region.

The tank will be commissioned on Thursday 16 December 2021.

This will involve a sequence of valve operations throughout the network, which may result in pressure fluctuations for our customers.

As with many new assets, there will be a period of disinfection known as free chlorination to ensure we provide safe drinking water for our customers.

Some customers may experience changes to the taste and odour of their water, which may last up to ten days. There may also be some discolouration, which will also subside.

During the commissioning, there are no health risks associated with the town water supply. It is safe for all drinking, bathing and food preparation purposes and it continues to comply with all health-based guideline values in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
