Works planned for Bendigo Water Treatment Plant

5 September 2024

We are planning to improve the water supply that we provide to customers in Bendigo, Huntly, Marong, Axedale, Raywood, and Sebastian.

To do this we are planning two stages of works:

  1. Installation of new bypass pipework
  2. Installation of new ultra-violet (UV) disinfection system and chlorine contact tank

Stage one of the works are planned for later this month, between 7am and 4pm weekdays, weather permitting. Works will start Tuesday 10 September.

Residents who live near the plant may notice an increase in traffic around the plant, as well as noise and dust during works.

There will be no disruption to Bendigo’s water supply during these works.

When the UV and CCT disinfection systems are installed, it will ensure our plant continues to align with the latest drinking water standards set by the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Once installed, these upgrades will ensure our plant aligns with the latest drinking water standards.

UV disinfection is a safe and common water treatment process that is used to treat many Australian drinking water supplies. It adds an extra layer of protection against microorganisms that may be present in untreated water.
