Plant update - 19 April

19 April 2024

Noise update

We continue to provide updates to those living near our Castlemaine Water Reclamation Plant regarding noise. We remain committed to reducing any disruption to these community members.

Earlier this month some operational issues at our plant led to extra noise. We’re pleased to report this noise has reduced and our plant has returned to normal operations. We continue to improve our processes behind the scenes.

Noise loggers have been successfully set up at nearby homes, with permission, which will allow monitoring to take place over the course of a week – weather permitting.

As part of our long-term plans, we have taken the next step to sourcing and installing ‘acoustic enclosures’ around our blowers onsite – which aim to reduce ongoing noise. These works will be finalised later in the year.

We also continue to investigate alternative blowers that produce less noise. Our blowers are an essential part of the wastewater treatment process.

Odour

We continue to make progress on our six-month long odour improvement program. We expect to have more details for an odour update at the end of this month.
